In Tirupur (India), local NGO SAVE – partner of Stop Child Labour – has declared two neighbourhoods ‘child labour free’.
On December 28th there was a big celebration in Tirupur. Not only because the zones Pandiyan Nagar and Annanagar are now completely child labour free, but also as new activities have been launched to get more children out of work and into school. The garment industry in Tirupur produces a lot of T-shirts for the global market.
