More than 1 million children are working in gold mines around the world. This gold ends up in our mobile phones and other products we buy. The electronics industry is the third largest buyer of gold in the world, but is doing very little to eradicate child labour from gold mining.
This is why Stop Child Labour is calling on the electronics industry to make a serious effort to fight against child labour. It is about time that companies are starting to look beyond the first supplier and to address child labour in the entire supply chain.
