Ika Chaalu : universal education and gender equality for adolescent girls in Telangana State, India

In India, Stop Childlabour partner MV foundation, together with Stichting Charity Fund Rijsholt  have come up with this great initiative: “Ika Chaalu – Enough is Enough”.

Ika Chaalu is a project for achieving universal education and gender equality for adolescent girls in Telangana State and is implemented jointly by MV Foundation and Stichting Charity Fund Rijsholt.  Some of the content and strategies in the blog will be familiar to you from the MVF project on child labour and education.

As their regular visits to the field have come to a standstill since the beginning of the pandemic, Shantha Sinha, Linda van der Wijk and Rekha Wazir thought the blog would be a good way of capturing the online discussions that have replaced their field visits. At the same time, it would help to highlight the innovative strategies used by the project, track the impact of the pandemic on the girls, capture voices from the field and provide a forum for debate and discussion.
